Great Barrier Reef Will not Be the Same Again

Great Barrier Reef Will not Be the Same Again

The researchers and scientists who have been studying the effects of climatic change and increasing pollution have sounded an alarm that the pride of Australia – Great Barrier Reef will obliterate in 40 years. The Australian Senate committee was apprised of the rising danger to the thinning marine life and the coral reef that adorned the sea bed of the Great Barrier Reef.

On numerous occasions, people have been warned about the debilitating effects of pollution on the natural habitat and its impact on the changing ecosystem. If things continue to go the way they are, soon there will be no Great Barrier Reef and some species will be extinct from the face of the earth.

The green initiatives are an utmost need of the hour for a simple reason that our environment has suffered a lot of backlash for thousands of years due to havoc that humanity wreaks on it, in the name of development. The forests have been stripped of trees and the ecosystem has been robbed of its natural state.

If we want to live in a world that is livable, it is important to understand the importance of keeping the environment clean. We must find ways to take our dependence off the conventional energy so that less pollution is caused to the environment.

The threat to the Great Barrier Reef was pointed out soon after it was declared the UNESCO world heritage site. However, not much has been done since then to protect its receding aquatic life and flora. The true horror of the environmental disaster is yet to unfold as people go on living carelessly without paying any heed to the environment. It is not just the GBR that is in danger, it is the whole planet.
